Rose Villa is a stunning example of an early georgian country house set in a large walled garden complete with original summer house, stables, wash house and vegtable patch. Only recently restored it has barely been touched since the day was built. The house is locally known as the Alice in Wonderland House because of all its quirky features and cubby holes and has a wealth of eclectic props and furniture.The house has glorious nautural light all day with vast sashed and shuttered windows, flagstone, brick,pale and oak wooden floors.
It has two large reception rooms - one white with 3 double aspect large windows, fireplace and half wall panelling, the other painted a deep choolate, with large stone fireplace and panelling. There is also a small study with a bookcase with a door into the sitttning room.
The large flagstoned hall has a sweeping staircase to a large airy landing and an arch doorway leading to the back hall and kitchen, pantry and boot room all with brick floors and servants bells. The ktchen has a 60's rayburn double aspect and back door leading to a cobbled yard then gardens.
Upstairs are 4 bedrooms and a vast bathroom all off a large, light landing. Bedroom 1 is double aspect, cream carpet and painted french grey with one wall grey wallpapered with cast iron fireplace. Bed 2 has 1 large window over the garden, cast iron fireplace, bleached floor and one wall pale blue chinoisere paper. Bedroom 3 has dark oak floor, 2 windows and fireplace. The bathoom has white painted floors, fireplace and claw footed bath.
It is 3 hours drive from london 2 from Manchester and has a tradiional beachhut 10 minutes away on the white sandy coast (see Rose Villa beachhut). The owner allows painting and decorating.
